In the debut episode of ForceForward, a new interview series highlighting what businesses and teams look like tomorrow, we caught up with ForceBrands’ Founder and CEO, Josh Wand — or as we like to call him, Motivator in Chief.
As a leader of two high growth companies, ForceBrands and PINATA, Josh shares how he approaches leadership in crisis, how organizations are redesigning, and how the face of hiring as we know it is changing.
Check out some more highlights below:
On being a wartime CEO
“I’m a peaceful warrior, and I’m a spiritual guy, but guess what? I’m absolutely a wartime CEO and I know it. This is when I have the clearest mind. This is when I can see things and I understand exactly what an opportunity looks like.”
On rising to the challenges
“I started an executive search and recruitment platform during a recession and we came out just fine. And we’ll be on the other side of this, too, but it doesn’t mean it’s not hard. It’s supposed to be hard. But I believe these are the special times. When you’re at the top of the mountain high-fiving, those are not the times you remember — it’s all about the struggle, perseverance, and triumphs you experienced to get there as a team.”
On upping the game
“It’s all about getting one more person a job. If we can help one more person get a job, we’ve done something good. We’re going to up our game and continue to evolve and use this time to become more innovative and more thoughtful and make sure we have the right strategy in place to execute. And we’re going to do it because there’s no other option. You either do it or you don’t, and we’re going to do it.”
