In the wake of 2008’s recession, it seemed like American workers were reluctant to take vacations, with many people worrying that taking a few days off would reflect poorly on them when it came time for a promotion or a raise. But over the past few years, more Americans have been taking advantage of paid time off (PTO). Although the United States does not require companies to provide PTO, businesses are catching on to the benefits of being more generous with vacation time: it makes for a happier, more productive staff and attracts better candidates for open positions.

The average American worker currently gets about ten vacation days, accruing more time the longer they’ve been at a company. But some businesses are now giving long-term employees unlimited PTO. Unlimited PTO allows employees to take off as much time as they need, as long as they hit their productivity targets. 1. Sixpoint Brewery
Sixpoint Brewery opened in Brooklyn in 2004, and they’ve been releasing creative new takes on craft beers ever since.
